News & Announcements:
Keep track of your components and equipment 2008-06-07
We have beta added the function to add stuff to your "inventory". This means that you can organize and keep track of your components, projects and synthesizers etc, by just click "add to inventory" on the product page. We are working on the sell feature, that way you can sell out the surplus parts you may have lying around your work shop. And in a third stage we are making a function for making BOM-files and comparing these to your inventory to see if you have the parts to build a project. More news to come as we proceed... Maybe even an explaining video on how to use it! ;)

It shows you how to draw the cables and put the components. Easily and hopefully will speed up my work a lot... And then this DIY Logic Probe/Analyzer for when building sequencers and other logic driven stuff. A logic analyzer using the PC's parallel port Both tools are added to the Resource page, for future use! :) Happy soldering!

I finally found a good Datasheet for the 2SK30y transistor used in many of older Roland and Boss products. I also found out a good replacement if you cant find the original, that is the NTE458.
Added LFO's to the Modular Workshop 2007-10-29
I have added LFO's to the Basic Modules section of the Modular Workshop. It is quite an important module to have in you r modular system for making rhytmic, pulsing and sweeping sounds... Check out the modules and make some noise! Made your own design or are missing something in the list? Log in and add your stuff!
Adding stuff! 2007-10-25
So the new site has run for some days, and I have begun using the new functions for adding stuff. I will start by getting a bunch of components that I got datasheets for up first, that way it will be easier to connect DIY-projects to all the components needed. If you have stuff of your own in the DIY world you want to share, just login and you can add products, companies, persons, files, links etc, and you can comment and tag everything making it more searchable... Keep on soldering!
New site... of sort... 2007-10-15
Ok, so now the new and old designs live side by side for a while. Until everything works smoothly and Google has updated their database with the new pages for search etc. Enjoy and please let me know stuff that is NOT working and other functions you would like on the site...
New design and new functions 2007-10-01
In the next few days the site will change form VERY slightly, we go from being a FRAME site to a DIV site... technical mumbojumbo... anyways, hopefully the site will be more user friendly and ability to add and comment stuff is on the way...
download and view files working again... 2007-08-17
Trying to fix all bugs after the move, now files are working again... Please let me know if anything doesn't work as expected...
Sorry for the downtime... 2007-08-16
So we had another downtime period... a server was moved without my asking and I had no chance to get the information out... :/ Oh well... Now we are up and running again, lets find out what works and what doesnt on this new server... Oh and lets make some new cool DIY stuff! :)
Douglas Curtis has passed... 2007-01-15
Published in the San Jose Mercury News on 1/14/2007: Douglas Curtis passed gently from this world on January 10 following a five month battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, and mourned by extended family including two sisters, two nephews and a niece. Doug is known to the music industry as the founder of Curtis Electromusic Specialties where he developed twenty signal-processing products for electronic music synthesizers and audio equipment. He holds three patents for various elements of his signal processing methodology. Several more patents in his name are assigned for chips designed into various commercial products. When the advent of digital technology and software changed the electronic music industry, Doug broadened his focus beyond synthesizers forming OnChip Systems. He was recently inducted in to the San Jose Rocks Hall of Fame. Doug was known for his intelligence, love of family and nature, and his steadfastness. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Los Gatos. Donations in his honor may be directed to PANCAN.

Once again we change the searchengine. Hope you will better find what you are looking for... You will no get more hits, as we also search in pdf and other not html files.
Uploading... 2006-12-26
We are trying a new upload-component (ABCupload). We are back on a fast internetconnection. So if you have a file and want to share it, login and try to upload it (to an already added product). If you dont find the product that you have a file for, add to this product Temporary Upload test and we will add the product and move the file... Hope it works, if not please report errors to me.
Did you know? (2) 2006-09-27
You can find all the products by a manufacturer and information about a manufacturer by clicking the manufacturer name on any product page.
New counters 2006-09-23
A new product-view counter is finished, instead of having to reset the counter from time to time, it is now possible to get statistics per date. You can see it on the right side on the firstpage for the last 24h... Interesting that MN3207 got 110 clicks in the first 10 minutes? Oh well... GOTTA LOVE STATISTICS! ;)
All is well 2006-08-07
Everything is starting to work at the site again after the crash. We have some new components to help in the administration of the site, and hopefully more people should be able to add and edit stuff on the page. Anyways now I might have the time to add some new stuff and some new features to make life in the DIY world easier.. :) PLEASE just send an email to info@synthdiy.com with ANY ideas and suggestions you might have...
Help us! 2006-06-29
After the crash of the server and switch of server, we seem to have all sorts of strange errors on the servers. Please help us by sending us an email if you find a file missing or some ASP-error or other error on any of our pages. That way I can see what is most critical to fix...
Thanks a lot everyone!
C.A.G. (Cloned Analog Gear) has a new address. 2006-05-22
Another site (except SynthDIY.com) that has been down for a while is Anders Spontons "Cloned Analog Gear", with a lot of schematics and articles from Electronics Today International (ETI), Practical Electronics, and Radio Electronics. Check out the site here.
YES!!! We are UP again! 2006-05-12
Finally we have the site up again after a MAJOR server crash... Sorry about that... The backup is read onto a new server at a new location even, unfortunately not as fast connection as before, we'll see what we can do about that... Please be patient as the latest added files are probably missing a while longer, as we have to put them back manually.
But we are back online, lets build some stuff, and add som new stuff! :)
Lof-fi! 2006-02-21
From time to time I run into diy-projects that are hysterical and in the same time genious in their simplicity. The last diy-project I found that fits this description is this:
Advanced lofi Leslie. Enjoy ;)
Did you know? 2006-02-20
You can find all the products and information about a manufacturer by clicking the manufacturer name on any product page.

350 visitors per day! 2006-02-13
Yes! isn't it cool to know that we are more than 350 persons every day visiting this site! This means if you want your design spread on the internet you should add it to this site. Email me if you have any cool things to add here!
Top visited products between Feb 1 2006 and Feb 13 2006 2006-02-13
MN3007 77 visits
NE 555 67 visits
LM1496 64 visits
SAD1024 63 visits
MN3005 58 visits
Maybe we should rename the site to mn3007.com ;)
Cleared the counter 2006-02-01
So we cleared the most wanted counter again. The top five was:
1. MN3007 (again)
2. Analogue Delay Unit
3. 2-pole State Variable Filter
4. MN3101
5. MN3207
What is the most interesting products? 2006-01-16
It might be interesting to see what products people want to know about most of all. So I added a small list in the rightmost column. I will reset the counter from time to time. The most intresting product the last two months was the MN3007 who had 394 Visits! Not bad...
Second place was the LM7815 on 376 visits. Loads of delays and power supplies being made I guess
Merry Christmas and Datasheets! 2005-12-23
Merry Christmas and a Happy new year! As a Christmas gift I have made a collection page for all the datasheets on the site. Hopefully this will make it easier to find the datasheets you are looking for. A schematics page is coming. Keep a lookout! You find the datasheets page in the left menu or here.
Another resource: Modular Workshop 2005-12-01
Here is a new resource from SynthDIY.com, I like to call it the Modular Workshop. In here I will add and categorize resources and projects that is useful if you want to build your own modular synthesizer system. More modules will come over time. so check back once in a while to make sure you dont miss something in your rigg.
Now go take a look and start building! The Modular Workshop
Popup problem solved 2005-11-04
We have had popups on the site for a while, without my knowledge. It showed that the statistics company I used has been sold, and that the new company sneeked in some popup-commercials. Sorry about that, statistics is gone, problem solved.
Lets try a new search approach 2005-09-14
Something had to be done about the search, so I finally have found a new search engine that might work. Atoms Search seems great as long as we dont have more than 750 pages (just 709 so far) But at least it will work a while longer, and it is GREAT for finding what you need... Try it and hope you find what you need...
How could I forget... 2005-08-22
One of the really important modules, but so discreet (makes no sound of its own.) in a modular system is ofcourse the LFO. I now have added a schematics for a really simple LFO, that will take you a very short time to build and will really spice up the sounds of your patches. Take a look under LFO's.
Problems with our search 2005-05-20
We seem to be having difficulties with the server again, this time its the indexed search that is failing... If you want to do a search do so by just entering the first letters/cymbols of what you are looking for and you might get hits. For example if you are searching for the TB303, just write TB and you will get hits...
Paia is one of those companies 2005-04-24
that has done so much for the DIY community over the years. They started up in 1967 and is still going strong today. They still have some of the cheapest kits for the DIY:er, and even today their catalog is quite big. The newest modules are even aimed towards the guitarists out there. Check out some of their modules here on the site: Paia.
We got quite som effects on the site... 2005-01-23
If you feel like alter your sound, and give it an analog feel, then what better way is there than to use a homebuilt effectsunit. We got loads of fuzz and distort circuits, as well as other useful circuits to screw up your clean digital sounds...
Check them out here: Effects units
The first thing to build 2004-12-09
I noticed the site lacked a very important component of any electronics project, so I have added a few components and projects from the web. The Power Supply. All these cool things that you can build, but without the powersupply you cant really do anything. So therefore: Take a look a the power supploes I have found so far, and make sure that you have at least plus minus 15 volts. Preferably plus 5 and plus minus 12 as well. Power Supplies
Sorry about the downtime... 2004-11-29
The SQL-server had a bad day and decided to crash on me... again. Still looking for a solution to the problem. It is just trial and error until it stays online I guess... Hope to see you back now when it is working again. Cheers!
300 Products in our Database! 2004-11-22
We have reached 300 products in our database. Cool huh? Add to this over 470 files, 126 url's and 56 companies. Lets keep the flow going, and let this database get huge! Mail me any ideas you might have to make the site better, or if you have any questions.
Prototype Resource Center is up 2004-11-19
I have been thinking of a Resource Center for Synth DIY a long time, and well to get the work started on it I have put up the page, with some of the useful information needed to SDIY... Please send comments to me, so I know what else you might need. Ofcourse I have a few ideas myself ;) Cheers, and have a great weekend!
My Datasheet folder is almost empty 2004-11-18
I have had a datasheet folder on my computer with all the SSM and CEM chip datasheets in for a long time, but now the last one of the CEM datasheets is online, and I just have one generic SSM datasheet left (which will take a while since it consists of so many chips). Anyways, if you dont find the datasheet you are looking for contact me and I'll see what I can do...
Newsfunctionality! Finally 2004-11-05
I have finally made the newslisting function finished, so it will be easier to write news and messages on this firstpage. Hopefully I will be able to update more often from now on. Still looking for people who want to help add to the database though... I cant do everything myself you know ;)... Stay Well 'til next time!
View products by category 2004-11-05
(23 August 2004) Amazing but true! I have finally made the function that makes it possible to browse products by category. Check it out and let me know if you have any comments on the function...
Finally got the filesizes up 2003-02-04
Now I have finally fixed so that the filesize is displayed on the productpage. This way you know how large the file you want to download is, before beginning transfer.
Enjoy!
Sequencer Galore! 2002-03-30
Searching the web for sequensers I have so far come up with four to put up on the web, check them out!
New Doepfer Modules 2002-01-16
Doepfer has released three new Filter modules for their A100 system. The modules are A-108 6/12/24/48dB Low Pass/Band Pass-Filter, A-104 Trautonium Formant Filter, and A-103 18dB Low Pass Filter. They also released a A-166 Dual Logic Module, and a really nifty CV-to-MIDI: A-192 Voltage-to-MIDI Interface CVM16. Check out doepfers homepage at www.doepfer.de/a100.htm
The first real DIY 2002-01-10
It's a new year, and it is time to get out and find more stuff to put on the site. I have added the ASM-1 synthesizer, although no files or info about it, since there is a wellinformative and nice site hosted by Magnus Danielson. Don't forget to either contact me or add your product to the site if you have your own DIY project. Give it to the world! :) Peace.
Easier to add files 2001-12-28
I've made it easier to add files to already existing products. Just log in and goto showproducts, and when you look at the desired product, there is a small menu just above the description where I will add useradministration links. Press the add file here, and there is a new file on the site in no time. Depending on what accesslevel you have the file may have to be cleared before published.
Korg Product Brochures 2001-11-20
Ronny Gardh has been at home with his scanner, and scanned us HUGE! files of the Korg MS and PS series Product brochures when they first hit the market. If you are sitting at home on a modem, dont try to download them :)
Possibility to add products UPDATED! 2001-11-19
I have added the feature to add products for any logged on user. If you have a product you want to add just login, and press the addproduct button. You will not see the changes immediately, as someone have to validate the product and all the files to it first. Please be sure to be as accurate and leave as much information as you can. Any questions can be answered by me at kristian@borgstedt.com. Feedback is almost essential as the Copy on the page is for techies (barely)
Search 2001-10-21
I have fixes a VERY crude searchoption to the site, it will give you a hit on anything that either begins or ends with the text you type. It will not give you all the correct links, but will let you know that whatever it is you are looking for is here... Somewhere :/ I'll fix a better one later. The problem is that everything is so thightly linked so it is difficult to get everything working correctly. This is probably no excuse though is it?
Datasheets 2001-10-19
The site may even come alive, we have gotten our first feature of the site online live. We now have a file area, where I have started putting up datasheets that people send me. At the moment I have put up some CEM Datasheets that have been moved here from DIYHOUSE, which has been taken offline. you can find the datasheets and other files here. Since this is just the first feature and put up a bit fast to be able to take over for DIYHOUSE, please send me thoughts of userfriendlyness. Me being a techguy, userfriendlyness is not my strong side. You reach me at: kristian@borgstedt.com
